This year’s Varsity Basketball team is looking solid. I have been to a few games and of course we are missing star player Emerson L. who we could use very much. He is on a Rocky Balboa-like training regimen.
Emerson wakes up early in the morning and runs through Portland until he makes it to the top of a large staircase and then dances around at the top. Although he is not a heavyweight boxer from Philadelphia referred to as the “Italian Stallion,” the parallels between the two are undeniable.
But here is an uplifting quote from Emerson: “Everybody’s development is coming along, especially my man Jimmy L. He’s really become a dashing young man on and off the court.”
I would have to agree with that quote. Although previously overlooked by scouts because of his overwhelmingly beautiful hair and British accent, James “Jimmy” L. has stepped up big for OES basketball so far this season.
Varsity had a lot of Seniors graduate from the team last year, including my brother Zach W, Meaning a lot of guys, some on returning from varsity last year and some made the journey from JV who have been stepping it up this year. The dynamic Charlie B. and three-point specialist Nathan C. on the perimeter are also having a large impact on the team’s success.
Not to mention recently swinging up from our JV team, Shiva B. the star of our team who we will miss if he continues to swing up for varsity will be exciting to watch. And with Jimothy at the helm OES is looking sharp and promising for the rest of the season.
