Update On OES Boys Lacrosse

by Petie W.

I’ve been to one Men’s OES lacrosse game so far this season, it was a good one although they lost to West Linn. Even though the team lost a lot of seniors from last year, they have a lot of talent this season.

I decided to interview Captain Calvin C., class of 2018 who has been a 4 year varsity player and is committed to play lacrosse at Williams. The interview also includes a couple of off the cuff comments from other captains Owen P. 18’, and Charlie B. 18’, in the spirit of good reporting.

Me: How’s the season going so far?

Calvin C.: Were doing pretty good, our record is around 6-4

Owen P: Depends on who you ask…

Me: How do you think your chances are looking for playoffs this year?

Calvin: Were well on our way to a league championship, because the next four games are ones that we should win.

Charlie B chimes in, “We can’t sleep on anyone though.”

Me: What do you think the team’s strengths and weaknesses?

Calvin: Our hard work is our best strength, because we’ve had to make up for a lot of players that graduated last year. Our communication is our weakness right now, because we have some new guys and things to adjust to, so that is something we are trying to work and improve on.

Me: How do you think the team will be next season without all the current seniors?

Calvin: Next year will be similar to this year, because we have a lot of seniors with good talent and who work really well together, which will of course affect the team. But Sully always finds a way to make the team compete.

Me: Are you looking forward to playing at the college level or will you really miss playing for OES?

Calvin: Both, because the last four years have been amazing for me. As far as my development on and off the field. At the same time it will be really cool to play at a higher level.
