After years of hype and excitement, the film, “Avengers: Infinity war”, was finally released last friday to theaters. As part of The Reel, sponsored by Trevor Jones, I went out and watched the movie. FYI: this is a spoiler free review.
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the new Avengers movie in fact was “the most ambitious cross over in cinematic history.” To be honest, I think they lived up to this expectation.
My opinion, as I do enjoy a good Marvel movie, may be a bit biased, but I really enjoyed the film. Not only that, I thought it was awesome how they were able to tie nearly everybody in the MCU (Marvel Comic Universe) to a single objective, stopping Thanos.
Looking at just the idea of this film, I can imagine that all the hardcore MCU fans out there were extremely excited and enjoyed the film as much as I did. However, through the sheer amount of characters and switching of plotlines may make it challenging for the non-hardcore fans.
In the high tier critic’s world, “Avengers: Infinity War” has gained quite a lot of mixed reviews. The New York Times movie critic, A.O Scott, actually had a negative review for the movie.
“Considered on its own, as a single, nearly 2-hour-40-minute movie, “Avengers: Infinity War” makes very little sense, apart from the near convergence of its title and its running time.”- A.O Scott.
Personally, I am no movie expert, but I really enjoyed the movie. While the high tier critics may be highly critical of this movie, as it is their job, I give this movie an 8/10.
