Ice Cream Places You MUST Go to This Summer

By Skylar Killian

Woohoo! Pull out your sunglasses and grab your hats, summer is here!

Whether you plan to travel the world, stay cemented to your bed, Fortnite console in hand, or just soak up some Portland sun alongside friends, there is one thing you should commit to do: eat ice cream. Now, I am not just talking about your classic homemade ice cream sundae, I mean unique flavors that scream adventure. For example, Salt and Straw is currently offering “Duck Crackling with Cherry Preserves,” as part of the season specials for June. Though you might not normally choose to incorporate crispy duck skin in your cold treat, this uncommon addition might just be up your alley. Also, if you have not tried the newer Salt and Straw soft serve dessert bar at Pine Street Market* and are craving a mean Concrete, this place is for you. Looking for ice cream that does not require a half-hour wait, head on over to Fifty-Licks for some delicious flavors that add a little spin to the basics you can find almost everywhere. Still not happy? Give Cloud City a try. A fun ice cream spot that offers a tasty variety of handcrafted ice cream, there is a flavor for everyone. And, if the classic ‘ice cream on a cone’ is not doing it for you, Ruby Jewel offers an excellent space to create tasteful ice cream sandwiches. While these are a few suggestions of ice cream places to try this summer, there are still so many more! So keep exploring and don’t be afraid to take a risk and try some new, funky flavors!
