Within the past two years, two clothing companies have been created by members of the junior class.
In June of 2017, Ian Roberts started designing his own shirts, under the brand name Rabid, through Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. He then printed the original designs on his own clothing and started wearing them to school. They caught people’s eyes and he began orders for shirts and sweatshirts. Currently, Ian’s favorite piece he has created has been the “Dastard Smooth”, which is a Rabid sub-brand exploring marketing and advertising of cigarettes (You can see an image below). Ian is taking custom orders revolving around what the customer wants. In the future, Ian hopes to continue to build the company through college. Ian has been speaking with Cam Gilly, one of the owners of local streetwear store Heir Portland. In the future, Ian hopes to put his clothing up for sale in Heir and another streetwear store called Compound Gallery.
In September of 2018, Matthew Li also began designing and creating shirts for himself. Similar to Ian, other OES students took interest in the company and began placing orders for shirts and sweatshirts. Matt’s favorite piece can also be seen below and he likes it because “It’s sick”. In the future, Matt wants to get the clothes professionally made, and start a website. Matt also hopes to see his clothing be sold in local streetwear stores.
