A few weeks ago, Ryan Holland told our advisory about his dream job.
Ryan has long dreamt of being a sports announcer. In college, Ryan took a few theatre courses to expand his knowledge of voice acting, and tells me that one of his biggest regrets is not working at the college radio station where he feels he could have improved even more as a radio announcer. Ryan took a specific interest in baseball commentary, and he cites his opportunity to spend some time in the San Francisco Giants press box (during which he met famed announcer Jon Miller) as one of his announcing highlights.
Ryan snagged his first real gig back at his old school in North Monterey County, where he announced basketball games. Today, as many of you know, Ryan calls many OES sporting events such as boys and girls soccer, basketball, and track. He says his favorite sport to announce is basketball, but he has a lot of respect for announcing track because it is his responsibility to keep the meet flowing.
In the future, Ryan’s greatest dream is to be a radio announcer for the Giants, but for now, catch him this winter at OES home games.
