With finals approaching and my stress level increasing, I thought it would be a good idea for me to check out Meghan and Erin’s wellness lunch.
The topic for today’s lunch was self-care strategies, which is something I thought I could really benefit from. Every year, I find myself prioritizing homework over sleep when finals week rolls around, and I end up in a cycle where I don’t sleep or complete assignments efficiently. Really, there couldn’t have been a better time for this.
The actual environment of the lunch was really casual and relaxed with some people chiming in with their own experiences while others simply listened. Meghan and Erin also suggested doable methods to practice self-care, which I found really refreshing. In the past, I have heard people attempt address mental health in an unrealistic and naive nammer, simplifying hardships to a single solution. But their approach seemed completely practical.
They proposed just taking five or ten minutes out of your day to do something that you want, or ultimately need. And I know for a lot of people, including me, it seems like that’s all the time there is to spare.
All in all, I ended up gaining a lot from the wellness lunch and will definitely be taking some of Meghan and Erin’s tips into finals week.
