YA writer Brandy Colbert will be virtually visiting the Upper School on Wednesday, March 3rd!

According to her website, “Brandy Colbert is the award-winning author of several books for children and teens, including The Voting Booth, The Only Black Girls in Town, The Revolution of Birdie Randolph, and Stonewall Book Award winner Little & Lion. She is co-writer of Misty Copeland’s Life in Motion young readers edition, and her short fiction and essays have been published in a variety of critically acclaimed anthologies for young people. Her books have been chosen as Junior Library Guild selections, and have appeared on many best of lists, including the American Library Association’s Best Fiction for Young Adults and Quick Picks for Reluctant Young Adult Readers. She is on faculty at Hamline University’s MFA program in writing for children, and lives in Los Angeles.”

Colbert’s visit will include a Question & Answer session which you can write questions for! Just email them to Upper School Librarian Erika Jelinek by Friday, February 26th so they can be pre-screened. To find out more about Colbert, you can take a look at her YA work which is currently featured on the Upper School Book Love page, or her Twitter, where I learned I’ve likely been pronouncing her name wrong. Probably because of him. The OES community is excited to welcome Brandy Colbert! Thanks for reading!
