An Interview with the Freshmen Student Council Representatives

Kyle Nagahori

Meet two student council representatives with this short Q&A!

Emily H.

Q: What ideas do you have to improve OES?

E: I want to deepen the bonds of our community and have more multi grade activities, especially for the freshmen because it is harder to get to know the upperclassmen for us.

Q:How will you organize events to make them fun?

E: I want to plan covid safe events where we are still able to be together. Also, I want to add multi grade activities where we are able to come together not just as a grade but as a school.

Q:What competencies do you have that make you a good student council member?

E:I am an active member of the community and I am very outgoing, talkative and very approachable, so if anyone wants to bring up anything to do with our school community, they can ask any questions or tell me any of their ideas that I can incorporate into the student council.

Q:What would you like to accomplish during the time you have as a student council representative?

E:I want to plan an extra dance. Usually schools have three dances but we only have two. I also want to add more activities during the beginning of the year to kick us off and get us all together. A lot of things have been affected by covid but we will be able to add many covid safe events.

Irene W.

Q: What ideas do you have to improve OES?

Irene: Nina and I are going to have a conversation with Liz for permission for the students to access the printing machines.

Q: What competencies do you have that make you a good student council member?

I: I am willing to contribute things for the community and make it beneficial for everyone.

Q: What would you like to accomplish during the time you have as a student council representative?

I: I am not sure right now, but I will try my best to revise anything or create anything that is helpful for the school with peers.

This concludes our interview with two of the new 9th grade student council members regarding how they will make OES a better school and why they are a great member. Thanks for reading!
